Designs by Default Office is based in St Clair, from a home office and lounge.

It is a a home where ideas are expressed and developed often a glass of wine or two, along with felt pens and paper at the ready for the next crazy ideas to be born , drawings , scribbles , words , brainstorming has begun.

Sometimes we meet up at the local St Clair cafes and bars as we plan the next stage of our business.

So ,it was only natural to design a St Clair cushion. St Clair is home for both business partners, it is a suburb where a sense of belonging and connection has been developed. The suburb of St Clair is popular because of it’s leisure destination; famous for its surf culture, salt water pool, and an excellent line-up of eateries; and with this Designs by Default is looking to expand its cushions and Tea Towels into the local bars and shops.

A Local landmark in St Clair is the beach and  an old set of wooden poles ( Groynes) originally built to prevent erosion are such a beloved photo backdrop they’ve become an unofficial icon of St Clair. Sadly, their number has dwindled significantly over the years in storms and high tides and there are just a handful still standing today.
